Stratford Officer Ken Kubel, age 56, died earlier this week. He served with the Bridgeport Police Department for 25 years from 1990 to 2015, retiring with the rank of sergeant, said Capt. Robert Burroughs of the Stratford Police.
Kubel then continued on in his police career by serving another nine years as a Patrol Officer with the Stratford Police Department from 2015 to 2024.
"Officer Kubel will be deeply missed by all who knew him," Burroughs said. "Officer Kubel was a person of great character and stature, and his loyalty, passion for helping others, and unwavering dedication inspired everyone around him."
Burroughs added that his absence creates a significant void in our community and in our hearts.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, and the extended Kubel family and friends," the department said.
On Facebook, Kubel's son Matt Kubel wrote: "Rest in peace dad. The best dad in the world. I love you so much, and I’ll miss you forever."
Funeral plans have not been announced.
